Estonia 3.-9.10.2018

Erasmus+ meeting in Estonia 3.-9.10.2018

On Wednesday 3rd we started our journey from Vammala to Tartu at 8 am, not too early though. We
took a train, tram, ferry, taxi and bus to get to Tartto and of course there was plenty of waiting time in
between the different vehicles so we finally arrived at 7 pm. Luckily we didn’t have any problems
during our journey. We ate a buffet at the ferry and watched movies on the bus so the journey went
pretty quickly. If you as me, eating is always a good way to spend time! In the evening students met
the German, Italian and Scottish students and got familiar with their roommates at the hostel while
us, the teachers, settled in our hotel rooms.

Next day we had a great welcome concert at Lähte Ühisgymnasium. After the concert the students
were divided to groups and the hard work for the project began. After a school lunch we took a bus
to Tartu Town Hall Square and walked to the Estonian University of Life Sciences to visit an energy
class. I was really interested, of course. We were introduced to different bio energy sources and
research they do on improving sustainable energy. We also saw our own hometown company
Vexxve’s products there. In the evening the students had dinner together and the teachers enjoyed a
lovely meal. I was pleased again.

Friday was packed with things to do. In the morning we had a nice tour of Tartu and the mayor of
Tartu welcomed us. The project continued by getting a lot of information about the topic at the Tartu
Environmental Education centre, Ice Age Center and Ahhaa Science Centre.

We started Saturday early, the bus left before 7.45 am for Tallinn. We had a city tour in Tallinn. The
tour was nice, but weather could have been better. It was windy and pouring rain, not my favourite
kind of weather. We didn’t forget the main focus and we got a lot of information at the Energy
Discovery Centre, which I once again enjoyed. After that we had a little bit of time to do some
shopping. I didn’t find much to buy only few homecoming gifts to colleagues and my husband.

Sunday was a bit easier day at least when considering doing project work. We went hiking in two
different nature parks and after that we had time to go Aura Water Park. I was tired of the intensive
program from the last three days so I skipped the waterpark and took a nap. The evening was free
so we went to dinner with all Erasmus+ teachers, of course lovely evening.

Monday was our last day of working with the project, the topic being sustainable use of energy. The
students worked hard to get the final product done. In the evening they presented the web page they
created and videos and brochures were also presented. After all the hard work we enjoyed
ourselves dancing traditional Estonian dances. This was one of the students favourite thing during
the trip. In the evening we said our goodbyes to our Estonian hosts.

Tuesday morning all the visiting countries took a bus from Tartu to Tallinn together. We said
goodbyes to the Germans, Italians and Scots at the airport and continued to the port. We ate at the
ferry’s buffet. Some of us couldn’t eat properly because of the windy weather and seasickness.
Luckily most of us felt okay and had no problems eating. After the ferry we took a tram to the railway
station, waited and took a train back to Vammala. The whole trip was a success and we all have
lovely memories from the visit to Estonia.

Time to wrap up the project: a BIG thank you to all Erasmus+ teachers and students!

Dear friends, all the project visits have been carried out, summer holidays draw nearer and apart from final uploading & reporting the results, there isn't that much to do with the project. It's been an amazing two years in great company! I've had the privilege of co-coordinating Erasmus+ projects for several years, and I must say it's always a pleasure. Great company, international cooperation and unforgettable experiences for students and teachers alike! With these final pictures reminiscing past visits and some comments from the students, I'd like to wish you all a pleasant end for this academic year and the project. Be seeing you soon! Antti P.S. Comments: This was an wonderful project with many chances for our future life Thank you for all :-) It was a very nice time and I’m thankful to say that I was a member of this project. Scotland 25.11.-1.12.2018

Erasmus+ meeting in Scotland 25.11.-1.12.2018 On Sunday morning we started our journey from Vammala at 8 am. We took the train to Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The national railway company, VR, was doing some construction on the tracks, so we had to modify our tickets beforehand and book a coach on our way back to Vammala. Anyway, everything should have been okay and we didn’t have any problems with the first train. We had to change trains in Tampere and there we found out that VR had cancelled all our tickets to both directions. Luckily we got everything sorted out and we arrived early at the check-in. After the check-in, it was lunch time. Our departure was from terminal T2 and I remembered  a good restaurant there. The Nordic Kitchen offered us tasty reindeer pizzas, pastas and salads. From Helsinki we flew to London and ate again. I can just say that I had booked good tickets, a lot of time to eat, my favourite thing! Because we were in Heathrow we had to try
