A brief summary of the project

Erasmus+ at Vammalan lukio, 2017–2019

Vammalan lukio has had a lot of international co-operation funded by the EU since 1998. Our current two-year Erasmus+ project is titled ”Work in Progress - Students Managing Public Relations Projects in Schools” and it includes five school from five project countries: Lähte Ühisgümnaasium (from Lähte, Estonia), Otto-Hahn Gymnasium (from Ostfildern, Germany), Vammalan lukio (from Sastamala, Finland), Peebles High School (from Peebles, Scotland) ja Istituto Statale di Instruzione Superiore "F. Enriques" (from Castelfiorentino, Italy). The aim of the project is to promote project management and implementation skills as well as team work skills of the participating students. This will be achieved via surveys, training and using project management skills in relation to various themes (e.g. sustainable development, political participation of the young etc.) to produce a variety of end products (organising debates and panel discussions, creating websites etc.)

The project also offers the students a chance to get to know young people from different cultures, work together using foreign languages and online learning platforms, learn more about life in project schools and countries and present information from their own schools, countries and cultures.

In addition to this, the students at Vammalan lukio will receive course credit for their work on the project.

Scotland 25.11.-1.12.2018

Erasmus+ meeting in Scotland 25.11.-1.12.2018 On Sunday morning we started our journey from Vammala at 8 am. We took the train to Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The national railway company, VR, was doing some construction on the tracks, so we had to modify our tickets beforehand and book a coach on our way back to Vammala. Anyway, everything should have been okay and we didn’t have any problems with the first train. We had to change trains in Tampere and there we found out that VR had cancelled all our tickets to both directions. Luckily we got everything sorted out and we arrived early at the check-in. After the check-in, it was lunch time. Our departure was from terminal T2 and I remembered  a good restaurant there. The Nordic Kitchen offered us tasty reindeer pizzas, pastas and salads. From Helsinki we flew to London and ate again. I can just say that I had booked good tickets, a lot of time to eat, my favourite thing! Because we were in Heathrow we had to try
